Zara Larsson on her new album 'Venus' and what we can expect from it
She also revealed how her collab with David Guetta happened
The incredible Zara Larsson joined Sam Thompson on Hits UK on Thursday night (26th October), the day that she announced her new album 'Venus' would be out next year, AND she would be going on tour!
Opening up about her new album, which features her hit 'Can't Tame Her' and her latest release 'On My Love' with David Guetta. Zara told us how the collab with the French DJ came about, and how she DIDN'T realise it was a David Guetta song to begin with! 😮
"It was actually quite funny," Zara explained. "I got the song sent to me by my A&R and I didn't know it was like it was a David Guetta track right, so I just loved it. I loved the demo. It wasn't completely finished."
Zara continued: "It was just like a verse and a chorus, and I said I would love to finish this and maybe have it on my album. And then, when I had said that, he came back and was like, 'oh, this is actually like a David Guetta track' and I said 'ohhh! What if he would want to be on it?' You know, like actually do a feature.
"And then we asked him and he said 'yeah! I'm down for it, I'm down, I would love to do it', and it's nice because it feels like a full circle moment, you know? Because he just does like good songs!"
What has Zara said about her album?
Chatting to Sam about her album, which features her latest song with David Guetta, Zara said: "I'm super happy with the collection of songs that I've picked. I think it's a journey. I think it's a little all over the place in the best way possible."
She continued: "Like there's some ballads, some really heartbreaking, very vulnerable. Then we got some... we dip our toes in the R&B pool, and then we dip our toes in the club bangers pool.
"I feel so excited to play this live," which is fortunate, because Zara also announced a new tour last week, where she will be performing across the UK.
Zara's Netflix film A Part of You
As well as being a talented singer, Zara stars in an upcoming Netflix film. She told Sam all about the film which is called A Part of You, and due out next year.
"I'm actually very down to venture out into the acting world, I think my really good friend wrote the script (for A Part of You)" Zara explained.
"She was like, I want you to be in this! And it went well, I got it, it was such a fun experience, I also think the director was amazing. The other actors in it are absolutely brilliant, and it's so beautiful, and it's really, really, really, it's sad, but it's hopeful, and it's really raw, it's more like an indie vibe? It's not what you would think a Netflix movie would be."
