Years & Years' Olly Alexander dishes up some Bake Off goss
Olly Alexander joined us at Hits Live Birmingham!

It's safe to say Years & Years' Olly Alexander certainly knows how to party, and that's exactly what the 'Night Call' singer did at Hits Live Birmingham on Saturday 20th November!
Years & Years, which is now an Olly Alexander solo project, were on the incredible line-up alongside Anne-Marie, Rag’n’Bone Man, Tom Grennan, Becky Hill, Dermot Kennedy, James Arthur, KSI and The Wanted at the Resorts World Arena.
Olly, who has collaborated with music legends Sir Elton John and Kylie Minogue this year, joined Fleur, James and Matt backstage at Hits Live Birmingham, to chat about his upcoming appearance on the iconic Great British Bake Off Christmas special!
Dishing up some hot goss on the Christmas special, Olly revealed: "Basically, they told us what to bake", before continuing: "But not in like a secret way! Just like, they tell you before you get there 'this is what your bakes are going to be', so I did have a chance to practise!"
Without spoiling anything too much, the singer then revealed: "I won't spoil it - but my first bake went really well, but my other bakes... Not so well."
Of course, Olly then gushed: "But it was so fun! It was like being inside the nicest TV show ever. It was just so nice."
Asking the all important questions, James then queried: "What were the ovens like? Because they look cool AF", to which Olly simply responded: "So boujee! They slide in at the bottom!"

It was back in March this year that Years & Years announced they would be continuing as a 'Olly solo project', with members Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen still having some involvement. Whilst Mikey still plays at live shows, Emre is still on hand with both writing and producing.
They released a statement at the time saying: 'Dear Y&Y fans 💕
'There’s been some changes that we want to fill you in on. This upcoming new album has been an Olly endeavour and we’ve decided that Years & Years will continue as an Olly solo project. The three of us are still good friends. Mikey will be part of the Y&Y family and play with us live and Emre will focus on being a writer/producer.
'These past twelve months have been crazy for us all and we want to thank you for the love and support you’ve given us over the years (& years). ✨
'New Y&Y music will be coming this spring. 🌟'. (sic)
Since then, as well as appearing in powerful AIDS drama It's A Sin on Channel 4, Olly teamed up with Sir Elton John to give an amazing performance at The BRIT Awards in May, and he recently released upbeat track 'A Second To Midnight' with Kylie Minogue.
Years & Years then confirmed new album 'Night Call' will be released in January 2022, with Olly writing on social media: '🌙🧜🏻♂️NIGHT CALL🌒✨ - let me take you far away 🌊🎶 my new album is out on the 7th January 🌘 I’m so happy this moment has finally come! Night Call has been my escape for the past couple of years, I put all my frustration, loneliness, hope, horniness, grief and optimism into making a really fun record I could dance to, I’m so excited to put this out and share it with you all 🥺 💜'.
