Tom Walker opens up about his wedding to fiancée Annie 💕
He was chatting to Fleur, James and Matt
Tom Walker, the singer behind hits such as 'Leave The Light On', 'Just You and I', and 'Better Half Of Me', has now released his first song of 2024, 'Head Underwater'.
Joining Fleur East, James and Matt on Hits Radio, Tom told the team about his wedding to his fiancée Annie, and revealed the story behind his latest song, which he described as: "Depressing with an undertone of hope."
Tom tied the knot with Annie last year, and told how the special day was for him. The singer explained: "It was amazing, it was the best... People say it's going to be the best day of your life, and you think, 'I've had pretty good days, you know Glasto was alright' - I played the John Peel Stage and all that.
"But, yeah, it was absolutely the best day of my life. I loved it, and it's so nice to have all your friends and all your family, like completely on side, it was wonderful."
The couple's first dance was Becky Hill's hit 'Afterglow' and it sounds like a great day all round!
During the interview, Tom also opened up about his new song 'Head Underwater'. He explained, it was quite similar to many of his other songs: "Although it sounds quite cheery, I guess like most of my songs, it's depressing with an undertone of hope, you know what I mean?"
He continued: "It's just about you know, those times that you get kind of lost deep down in darkness. But those tough times in life are the ones that really test you, that really catch you off guard... You learn something from them don't you, and that's all about what this song's about."
The singer previously revealed more about the song saying: "This is about keeping my inner demons at bay and the constant battle I'm having with myself - sometimes feeling suffocated and overwhelmed by the weight of the world."
He continued: "'Head Underwater' signifies the sensation of feeling like I'm drowning in my own thoughts and emotions. Despite the overwhelming struggle, there's a determination to survive and emerge stronger from this internal conflict."
