Tom Grennan releases 'Shadowboxing' along with the lyric video 🎶

After weeks of teasing, Tom Grennan has now released 'Shadowboxing', his first single of the year. The singer, who has already performed his new song live in front of fans, has also released the lyric video.

'Shadowboxing' is the follow-up to Tom's Christmas song, which was narrowly held off the top spot by Wham! and Mariah Carey, and his very catchy tune 'Higher', released late last year.

Tom has not yet released a music video for 'Shadowboxing' however he has released the lyric video. You can watch the lyric video below.

When was 'Shadowboxing' announced?

It was back on 10th January, Tom first confirmed the name and release date of his song writing: 'Shadowboxing 🥊 31.01.25'.

Then, the week before the song's release, the singer shared some behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the production of his new single. The social post included a new clip of a verse from his song, check it out on the last slide...

Just days before the song's release, Tom shared a video of himself singing along to 'Shadowboxing' as he walked around a supermarket. One fan commented on TikTok saying: 'tom what do you mean by and that’s not all in your insta post ? 🫣🫣' (sic), to which the singer replied: 'what do you think I mean? 👀'. Appearing to suggest there is some big news for fans.

'Something in the Water' was Tom Grennan's debut single released in 2016, it was also the name of his debut EP released in the same year.

In 2017, Tom Grennan released 'Found What I've Been Looking For'. Although the song didn't enter the Top 40 in the UK it's very has been very popular on YouTube, with it receiving 14 million views to date.

2018: 'Something Better'

'Something Better' was featured on Tom's second album 'Evering Road'. In a statement released at the time he said: "When I wrote 'Something Better', it was a song about me smiling on the outside but dealing with a whirlwind of dark thoughts and distractions on the inside."
He went on to say: "Since Covid-19 and lockdown, the tables have turned! I'm smiling on the inside, and I'm constantly distracted with thoughts of the exciting, crazy and better future that is coming, and it's just around the corner!"

2021: 'Don't Break The Heart'

Tom Grennan released 'Don't Break The Heart' on 3rd September 2021. The song was about the loss of this friend's mum and in an interview with Essentially Pop he explained: "Recently I received the tragic news of a friend's mum's passing. It hit me hard watching him comprehend what had happened, trying to compute the madness and sadness of his new world now that his mum whom he loved so dearly had passed.
"It triggered memories for me of the loss of my cousin and best friend Alan when I was just a teenager, it broke so many of us. The song unravelled from me quite quickly. It was cathartic on many levels, thoughts of loss and heartbreak, dealing with the grief of death, or the breakdown of a relationship or friendship.
"These are all things that seem to have dominated my life in recent years, but sadly never get any easier to navigate. I'm grateful that the passing of time allows us to look back and remember the good times."

2021: 'Little Bit of Love'

In 2021, Tom Grennan released his first Top 10 UK hit, 'Little Bit of Love'. The song was a hit in a number of countries reaching Number 7 in the UK. The song was written by Tom and featured on his second album 'Evering Road'.
Speaking about his song to NME, he explained that it was about: "the mental struggle of moving on, or going back to a relationship".

2021: 'Let's Go Home Together' with Ella Henderson

'Let's Go Home Together' was a Top 10 hit in 2021 for Ella Henderson and Tom — and has since been certified 2x Platinum. Ella co-wrote the song with James Arthur and a songwriting team.
The music video shows Ella and Tom sitting separately with their own friends in a pub, before coming together after a few drinks.

2022: 'Remind Me'

'Remind Me' was released in May 2022 by Tom Grennan, along with the music video and lyric video. He later revealed the song was inspired by his now fiancée Danniella. The singer told Rolling Stone Australia/NZ: "The engagement only happened the other day." He went on to say: "When I was writing ('Remind Me'), it was about reconnecting with somebody special.
"Now we're back together, and I'm in love. She's amazing, somebody who has changed my life completely. She's my best mate."

2022: Tom Grennan and KSI ' Not Over Yet'

Tom Grennan and KSI teamed up for the first time on their collab 'Not Over Yet' released on 5th August 2022, which went Platinum in the UK in June 2024.

2022: 'All These Nights'

'All These Nights' was released in July 2022, and has since been certified Silver by the BPI. On its release, Tom told his followers on social media: 'I'm so proud of this song. I hope you love it as much as I do.' It came complete with a video of Tom suspended over Liverpool docks, in a perspex ball!

2022: 'Lionheart' with Joel Corry

Huge collab with DJ and friend Joel Corry, 'Lionheart' was released in October 2022, eventually going Platinum in the UK. It was released alongside a video of the pair taking on a series of boot-camp style challenges. And they also released a behind-the-scenes video, in which they took on a bungee jump. Rather you than us lads!

2023: 'Here'

Tom released 'Here' in January 2023 with a heartfelt statement. He told his fans: "With what's going on in the world, with so many people struggling, affected financially, by Covid, by loads of different things, it's one of those songs that helps you believe there is somebody in your life that is going to be there for you in the struggle.
"There's the battle of everything. But when it's shared with somebody else, you're doing it together, not just on your own.
"So that's what it's about, if I'm here for you, then please be here for me."

2023: 'How Does It Feel'

In May 2023, Tom released 'How Does It Feel' from his 'What Ifs and Maybes' album. It's since been certified Gold in the UK. In a post on Instagram on the day of its release, he said: 'Tell me this isn't a summer bangerrr' (sic).

2024: 'The Best A Man Can Get'

Tom officially released 'The Best A Man Can Get' in August 2024. The song is famous for being used in the Gillette adverts since the late 80s, and Tom re-sung it in 2023. Since 2023 the shaving company have been using his version of the song, but it wasn't available to buy, until Tom released it as a single in 2024.

2024: 'Higher'

In September 2024, Tom dropped 'Higher' from his new album 'Everywhere I Went, Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be'. The album is set to be released in August 2025.

2025: 'Shadowboxing'

Tom's latest song from his upcoming album was released on 31st January 2025. 'Shadowboxing' has already received more than 25,000 views on YouTube. In a post on Instagram just days after its release, he said: 'Thanks for all the love on Shadowboxing 🥊.'
