Posting across his socials, Tom told his fans: 'Officially shutting the door on spooky season 🎅 #comingsoon', accompanied by a video showing Santa sitting down to relax at home, having a drink and listening to a song on a record player. He's then interrupted by a knock at the door, to find a child dressed as a ghost saying "trick or treat".

Later in the video, Santa is revealed to be Tom, and fans speculated as to what this could mean. Many thought it could be a Christmas song and they were right, one wrote: 'Tom grennan Xmas song???' (sic), another said: 'Tom have you got a Christmas song coming out??? If so I’m right here for it 🔥🔥'.

While another fan commented: 'i’m so confused, xmas songs coming?😂'. (sic)

One more fan said they were hoping for a tour, writing: 'Please bring me a tour for Christmas 😢😮‍💨'.

Another fan joked: 'Our school is looking for a Santa, I'm sure you'd be made very welcome 🎄❤️😍xx'.

Just a day after Tom started to tease his Christmas announcement, he announced the name of a new Christmas song called 'It Can't Be Christmas'. The song is now available to stream, and you can hear it on Hits Radio.

Speaking about his new song, Tom said: "I love everything about Christmas, spending time with friends and family, eating great food, and listening to Christmas music. So it was a no brainer for me to team up with Amazon Music to create a festive song of my own. I hope you enjoying listening to 'It Can’t Be Christmas (Amazon Music Original)' as much as I enjoyed making it."

It hit me hard watching him comprehend what had happened, trying to compute the madness and sadness of his new world now that his mum whom he loved so dearly had passed.
"It triggered memories for me of the loss of my cousin and best friend Alan when I was just a teenager, it broke so many of us. The song unravelled from me quite quickly. It was cathartic on many levels, thoughts of loss and heartbreak, dealing with the grief of death, or the breakdown of a relationship or friendship.
"These are all things that seem to have dominated my life in recent years, but sadly never get any easier to navigate. I'm grateful that the passing of time allows us to look back and remember the good times."
