The wonderful Paloma Faith joined Angellica, James and Matt on Saturday morning on Hits Radio, where she opened up about her new album 'The Glorification of Sadness', her dating icks and the acting roles she'd love to take on.

Paloma's brilliant sixth studio album 'The Glorification of Sadness' is out now, but Paloma revealed that she actually gets very nervous when she releases a new album. She said: "I’m really nervous. I get nervous every time I release a record, I think it’s the end of my career. Every time I’m like, 'It’s gonna come out, it’s gonna fall on its face, and then I’m gonna go and train to be a primary school teacher' - which isn’t a bad job, let me just put that out there!"

Sharing some inspiring advice, Paloma also revealed her tips on how to embrace independence and heal from a break-up. She explained: "It’s really easy when you’ve got two small children asking for breakfast! If I was on my own I’d say for me, this independent thing is about taking care of the most important relationship in your life and probably the most neglected one, and that’s the one with yourself.

"I’ve spent my life really avoiding that. And I think that having kids means that I can’t avoid it anymore because in the past, if I broke up with someone I would just go out, distract myself, maybe get off with somebody else, whatever. And then now, I’m just like no, I’ve got to be really serious, I’m stuck indoors with my kids, they’re asleep. So it’s like about learning to forgive yourself."

Having shared some of her fans icks on her Instagram page, Paloma revealed the 'very specific' icks of her own. She told us: "Most of the icks on my page have been sent in by people. And the reason why is I don’t have loads of icks, mine are all really serious like people being a bit stalkery.

"I’ve got a couple of very specific ones. I can’t handle bad shoes, I really can’t. And I do look at men’s shoes quite quickly early on. I also think that people who slate their exes, because that makes me think this person’s not kind and they’re gonna eventually do it about me. I always find somebody attractive who’s like no we just had our differences and we went our separate ways but I’ve got so much respect for my ex. I love that, you can stay."

In addition to her amazing music career, Paloma has also enjoyed success as an actress, having starred in films including St Trinians and Youth, as well as appearing in the series Pennyworth.

When it comes to the sort of role she'd like to play in the future, Paloma is keen to portray a character that is very different to her. She explained: "What I wanna do is play characters that are completely not like me, and that’s quite rare to find casting directors who are willing to put you up for those roles because they often but you into things where I’m like, Oh, I’ve been called in for this character, description is chirpy, vivacious, a bit funny, slightly cynical'.

"You’re like, 'Oh god, here we go!' What I really want is like downtrodden, depressed, angry, you know, unwashed!"
