Jess Glynne opens up about her 'honest and raw' return to music at Hits Live
It's great to see Jess back!
Last updated 3rd Jul 2023
The wonderful Jess Glynne has made a highly anticipated return to music with her new single 'Silly Me' and an incredible performance at Hits Live Liverpool. The 33-year-old 'Hold My Hand' hitmaker opened up about her time away from the spotlight in a chat with Hits Radio presenter Tom Green, where she discussed her 'honest' new music.
Reflecting on her time away, Jess said: "The past few years I've been working on this album, creating a whole new bubble around me and building my strength, you know a lot's happened. It's been a journey.
"Five years is a long time and I've grown, you know, I'm not the same person I was when I started and I think that's just the point. I'm a pop girl, my music's always going to be pop and it's definitely different this album, like in a good way.
"It's very honest, raw, real. I've been through a lot you know and it's been a journey. I think it was really important to me to tell my truth and be real and also come back and be a bit more open and let people in."
Jess also opened up on the experience of sadly losing a friend and the difficult times she had been through. She said: "I lost a friend, it was a really traumatic time, about a year and a half ago now actually.
"It was a really trying time for me and it just changed my perspective of life completely because of the experience. I think just coming back into like really working and building good energy around me was the most important thing, which is one of the reasons why I felt like I needed to move on from my previous team and all of that stuff.
"I really want to talk and be present with this process and with this new chapter just because I want people to understand where this music has come from and where I’m at as well which is super important."
Jess closed the show in style at Hits Live Liverpool, taking to the stage with a setlist that was jam-packed with hits, from massive tunes such as 'Hold My Hand' to her latest single 'Silly Me.'
Fans can look forward to more new music from Jess, with a new album on the way along with a tour in the future. She added: "There’s more music coming and an album is coming and yeah I will be touring, like everything’s coming. There’s a lot to look forward to."
We can't wait to hear it!
