Jax Jones joined Tom Green on Hits Radio to talk about his brand new tune 'Tonight (D.I.Y.A)', his upcoming UK tour, and that Take That collab which he has been teasing for a very long time.

Rumours first started of a Take That collab when Jax posted a photo with Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, backstage at an event, just before Christmas 2023. Then, a few months later we caught up with Jax, when he told us he'd been chasing Gary, but he was on holiday.

Now, in September 2024, it seems there is another development, with Jax chatting to Tom, explaining they've written some songs, but he needs to reply to Gary!

"Gary's literally chasing me," Jax admitted, saying: "I wrote a message and I didn't send so I feel even worse.

"We wrote two songs the other week, and he's amazing, he came in with this envelope. Gary's very unassuming. That was what was cool about Gary."

Jax went on to say: "Gary comes in, so we have a visual tool, (he) brings out his envelope that has all these little tabs, where he's written titles and cut them up! And then he lays them out on the studio table and goes, ‘here's some selection of ideas that we could start from’. Imagine that bruv!

"It was like a moment for us”

The 'Whistle' DJ went on to confirm he will be replying to Gary at some point: "No, I am (replying). We need to get the bangers done! He asked me to do some research as well, so I went to his show. Just to see what's going off for them."

Jax also opened up about his friendship with Charli XCX, real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison. The singer is known for her album 'brat', which inspired the viral term 'brat summer', and as Jax explained, she's really good at listening to music he sends her.

Jax told Tom: "I speak to Charlie XCX, she on WhatsApp, she's cool. Charlotte, that’s what I call her, she's very formal on message."

He went on to explain: "She's listening, you know, I'm saying... so if you send her something, you'll get a response and it's polite...She'll respond."

During the chat, Jax also opened up about his latest collab with Joel Corry and Jason Derulo. The DJ explained that Joel introduced him to Jason, they started working on the tune together, and 'the rest is history'. Since releasing their hit, Jax has now released a version featuring Pitbull, after he decided to have a 'mess around' in the studio.
