Duke Dumont feat AME’s ‘Need U (100%)’ has stayed at the top of the singles chart for a second week, blocking one of the most controversial chart contenders of recent years - Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead.

The song, from the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, was downloaded 52,605 times following an online campaign in the wake of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s death last week.

According to the Official Charts Company, ‘Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead’ had climbed from number 54 on Tuesday to 10 on Wednesday and number 4 on Thursday.

By Friday it was at number 3 and eventually it peaked at number 2 some 5,700 copies behind Duke Dumont and AME’s track.

A rival campaign by Margaret Thatcher supporters saw Notsensible’s 1979 single ‘I’m In Love With Margaret Thatcher’ chart at number 35 with sales of 8,768.

Elsewhere, the rest of the Top 5 was completed by ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ by P!nk ft. Nate Ruess (3), ‘Pompeii’ by Bastille (4) and ‘Feel This Moment’ by Pitbull ft. Christina Aguilera (5).

Over on the album chart, Paramore ended Justin Timberlake’s three-week reign at the chart summit with their self-titled fourth album.
