Aston Merrygold lands debut voice-acting role in upcoming Disney Pixar film
The film is out very soon!
JLS singer Aston Merrygold has revealed that he has joined the cast of a new Disney Pixar film, to be released later this month. Aston will make his debut voice-acting role in the much-anticipated release of their new animated adventure Elio.
Aston will join the film for the UK version, playing a character called Aston! Other cast members include Zoe Saldaña, (Aunt Olga), Yonas Kibreab (Elio), Brad Garrett (Lord Grigon), Jameela Jamil (Ambassador Questa), Shirley Henderson (Ooooo) and Remi Edgerly (Glordon).
Aston revealed the exciting news exclusively on Hits Radio. Speaking about the role, Aston couldn’t hide his excitement saying: "I’m so excited and beyond honoured to join the voice cast for the all-new original film Elio from the iconic Animation Studio. I mean who isn’t a Pixar fan? It means everything to me that my kids will be able to hear their Dad’s voice on the big screen!"
Aston now joins a growing list of British celebrities who have joined recent Pixar releases, including Hits Radio's Sam Thompson (Inside Out 2), Anne-Marie (Turning Red), and trainspotter Francis Bourgeois (Elemental).
Elio is set for release on 20th June, and promises to be a cosmic adventure like no other. The plot follows the story of Elio, a boy with a huge imagination and an obsession with all things alien. When he’s accidentally beamed up to the Communiverse, an intergalactic organisation of alien ambassadors, he’s mistaken for Earth’s leader. Then, he is suddenly thrust into a world of weird and wonderful aliens, so Elio must find his voice, build connections, and figure out who he truly is.
Away from his voice acting, Aston is due to go on tour later this year with the rest of JLS. Earlier this year, the band announced 'The Club Is Alive: 2025 Hits Tour', which they will be starting on 6th November in Glasgow, before travelling across the country, ending in London on 29th November. Tickets are on sale now from Aloud.com.
When is Elio released?
It will be in cinemas on 20th June.
