WATCH: Noel Gallagher performs The Royle Family theme song in tribute to Caroline Aherne
The singer dedicated it to his 'very funny' friend
Noel Gallagher has dedicated a performance of the The Royle Family theme tune ‘Half The World Away’ to the late Caroline Aherne in Nashville.
On Instagram he’d posted a picture of the actress with the caption ‘RIP Kaz. I shall sing for you tonight. (My god you made us laugh!)’ before taking to the stage with his band, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
The song had been written by Noel when he was a part of Oasis and it was released as a B-side in 1994.
The comedian had been married to the former New Order guitarist Peter Hook for three years before they separated in 1997.
Caroline had a history of ill health, having suffered from bladder cancer, a rare cancer of the retina and she'd undergone treatment for lung cancer in 2014.
