Has Steve Brookstein gone too far with his latest X Factor dig?
First winner has been bitter since public falling out with Simon Cowell
There's been a backlash on Twitter as Steve Brookstein has launched another attack on The X Factor.
The 2004 winner hit out at the show and its declining viewing figures, implying that the single will only be for charity to get the public's attention.
But some people thought he went too far, when he implied the show would use Simon's mum's death to sell more singles.
It attracted a lot of criticism from people on Twitter with one person calling the comment 'vile'.
But Steve responded back to some defending his opinion and even called the user below a 'sad cow'.
Simon was 'heartbroken' when his mum Julie passed away in July.
Opening up about it he said: "The biggest regret you'd ever have is to not have the chance to say how much you feel about someone...I know I'll miss her every day, but I also know I'm incredibly grateful to have had her. She was an optimist, my mum, and I think I've got that in me as well. I'm trying not to be the victim here."
It's not the first time Steve has attacked The X Factor, previously comparing Olly Murs' slip-up to a doctor giving news about HIV which didn't go down well with Twitter users either.
It's reported he fell out with Simon after the singer's 'million pound' record deal was terminated nine months after he won the show.
In one interview in 2009 Steve explained "I just wanted to make good music - and not the pop schlop associated with Simon Cowell. Unfortunately I was dropped because I couldn't play the game".
There's been no word from The X Factor boss, who seemed to ignore Steve's negative comments online.
Louisa Johnson was the latest winner of the show.
