Prince William makes history by appearing on the cover of a gay magazine
"No one should be bullied for their sexuality" says Prince William.
Prince William has made history by being the first royal to appear on the front cover of a gay magazine.
The Prince revealed his involvement with Attitude magazine after signing a book of condolence for the victims of the Orlando shooting at the US embassy in London (pictured above).
Attitude editor Matthew Todd, along with some members of the LBGT+ community were invited by the Prince to Kensington Palace, where he heard about their experiences of homophobic, bi-phobic and transphobic bullying.
After the discussion, which was led by Matthew Todd, His Royal Highness posed for a cover shoot photographed by Leigh Keily, an Australian celebrity photographer now based in London.
The magazine cover with the headline 'Making History: Prince William Meets Attitude' shows Prince William laughing, looking relaxed while wearing a white shirt with no tie.
After the discussion Prince William made a statement saying, "No one should be bullied for their sexuality" going on to say,
"The young gay, lesbian and transgender individuals I met through Attitude are truly brave to speak out and to give hope to people who are going through terrible bullying right now."
He ended by saying how each of them should be proud of who they are, "you have nothing to be ashamed of."
Talking about the discrimination and bullying that some members of the LBGT+ community deal with day-to-day Matthew said, "I am very happy that the future King of The United Kingdom agrees this must stop and I would urge parents in particular to raise their voices in their communities to ensure that every school protects – really protects – all children.'
