As the nation (or should we say the world), prepare to lap up Royal Baby fever in the coming weeks, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have released a statement, announcing plans for the upcoming birth.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who married in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018, have confirmed they are going to enjoy the birth 'privately' as a family, not following the recent tradition of showing off their newborn on the steps of the hospital.

The statement, released by Kensington Palace, reads, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.

"Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family."

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met in London in July 2016.

The news comes just weeks after the Royal couple broke records on Instagram, when they created their own account called sussexroyal.

The account now has 4.4 million followers, including several celebrities, Vicky Pattison, Ariana Grande and David Beckham. The couple captioned their first post, 'Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.”- Harry & Meghan'. sic

Meanwhile, after their stunning wedding ceremony back in May, Prince Harry and former Suits actress Meghan Markle confirmed they were expecting their first baby together.

The news was announced on Twitter, with Kensington Palace tweeting, 'Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.'

Although no exact due date has been given, it is understood the new Royal baby could arrive any minute now! 👶
