Olly Murs and Caroline Flack to host The X Factor
The show returns to screens in Autumn
Olly Murs and Caroline Flack have been announced as the new hosts of The X Factor.
They will be the first ever duo to present the popular talent show, replacing Dermot O’Leary who confirmed his departure last month after eight years in the role.
The pair previously worked together on ITV2 spin off show ‘The Xtra Factor’, co-hosting the show for two years from 2011.
Olly was a contestant on The X Factor in 2009, finishing as a runner up to Joe McElderry.
However he has since gone on to sell more than 13 million records in five years.
Caroline Flack has also grown in fame, winning last year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
“I love The X Factor and it kick-started my career in music which has given me the opportunity to do what I love,” said Murs.
“I already have the best job in the world and it's about to get better - I can't wait to get started and be part of finding some amazing new talent.”
Flack said she was “beyond excited” to be presenting the show with the ‘Up’ singer.
“To have the privilege of doing this with someone who makes me laugh out loud is a massive bonus,” she said.
“I'm also incredibly lucky to have the best tips and support from my showbiz big brother Dermot. I'm not sure how I can live up to his long term residency but I know I can't let him down!”
X Factor boss Simon Cowell added that he was “absolutely delighted” the duo were returning to present the show.
The new series of The X Factor will return to screens in the autumn – with open auditions currently underway.
