Love Island's Megan Barton-Hanson reveals the REAL reason she split from Wes Nelson
She's clearing all rumours up about their split
Last updated 5th Feb 2019
They seemed completely smitten just weeks ago, so it’s no surprise that Love Island fans were left in complete shock when Megan Barton-Hanson announced she’d split from Dancing On Ice’s Wes Nelson. But now, after a number of recent rumours, Megan has put the record straight, revealing the REAL reason for their break-up.
They seemed seriously loved-up since they finished in fourth place behind Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer, Paul Knops and Laura Anderson, and Josh Denzel and Kaz Crossley on last year's Love Island, but it seems their love was not meant to last.
Megan wrote about her heartbreak in this week's Grazia magazine, saying, "It's been a difficult few weeks to say the least. Break ups in the public eye are horrible, it seems like there's always one person who tries to vilify the other."
She continued, "I love Wes as a person but we're in very different stages of our lives and our priorities are different. I'm 24 and by the time I'm 30 I want to be engaged. Wes is only 20. He's living his best life."
She ended the article with, "I feel liberated by the break-up, but I'll always love Wes. He's a beautiful person inside and out. Whoever ends up with him is very lucky."
Grazia magazine is on sale now.
The pair's relationship hit a rocky patch after Megan accused Wes' Dancing on Ice partner Vanessa Bauer of foul play and called her out on her Instagram story.
She wrote, 'Love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!
'You've never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night you didn't even look me in the eye LOL.'
Just a few weeks later, the former Love Island couple announced their split.
In January the couple's flat was broken into where a huge amount of jewellery and electrical items were stolen. The pair had only moved into the luxurious flat in October last year.
Not long after the break in, Megan ended up in hospital with a kidney infection.
