Lorde apologies for comparing being friends with Taylor Swift to having a disease
She made the comments this weekend.
Lorde has apologised for comments she made about being friends with Taylor Swift. The pair are close friends, with Swift throwing Lorde a star studded birthday last November.
The 20 year old New Zealand singer was speaking to the The Guardian, when asked about being friends with Tay-Tay she said ‘It’s like having a friend with very specific allergies. There are certain places you can’t go together. Certain things you can’t do.” The singer said of being friends with someone as famous as Swift.
Lorde added “There are these different sets of considerations within the friendship. It’s like having a friend with an autoimmune disease.”
Fans were quick to call Lorde up on her comments, with one tweeting ‘I wonder how @selenagomez feels about this. What an incredibly ignorant analogy to make @lorde’. Selena, who is also close friends with Taylor, suffers from the autoimmune disease Lupus.
Lorde responded ‘didn’t mention Taylor, but regardless, I f***ed up & that was really insensitive. I’m sorry.’
