They broke the hearts of their fans when they announced their split in July 2018, but One Direction star Liam Payne and former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl have remained the best of friends as they co-parent their two-year-old son Bear.

So yesterday, as the nation celebrated Mother's Day, Liam was quick to praise his ex-girlfriend in a cute post, which was also aimed at his mum Karen.

Sharing a photo of Cheryl gracing her bump, and a photobooth snap with his mum, the 'Strip That Down' singer wrote, 'Happy Mother’s Day to these two amazing super mums not sure what me and the little man🐻would do without you xx'. sic

After dating for over two years, welcoming a baby boy and forever shutting down split rumours, Cheryl and Liam finally announced they'd decided to break-up on 1st July 2018.

Posting a joint statement on Twitter, Cheryl wrote, 'We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It's been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.' sic

Despite not romantically being together, Liam recently revealed the former couple held a little party for their son Bear last month, as the youngster celebrated his second birthday.

As Liam had to travel to Dubai for work commitments on Bear's actual birthday, the dad-of-one told press, "It was his second birthday yesterday so we had a little party, just family at the house.”
