Kim Kardashian supports Bruce Jenner gender transition
She claims her family are still adjusting
Kim Kardashian West has finally spoken out about her stepfather’s gender transition, describing it as a “hard adjustment” for her family.
In a preview of the reality star’s interview with The Today Show, she dismissed “made-up” claims that Jenner’s family and friends were not supportive of Bruce Jenner’s transition.
“I think there is still an adjustment to the transition and there’s family therapy and we’re really close,” Kardashian West told host Matt Lauer.
She continued: “I see reports that say, ‘This one doesn’t support him,’ and, ‘This one’s over here, and my mum feels this way’, and it’s all really so made-up.
“We all really support him, Is it a hard adjustment? Yes.”
Bruce Jenner initially confirmed that he was making a gender transition in an interview special with ABC’s Diane Sawyer.
He said: “For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman. “People look at me differently.”
“They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life – it is part of me. That female side is part of me. That’s who I am.”
The show hit 16.86 million viewers in the US on Friday, making it the highest-rating primetime show on TV this season.
The interview also broke Twitter records, with The Wrap reporting that over 8.1 million people saw one or more of the 972,000 tweets sent about the two-hour special.
An eight-part series exploring Jenner's transition will air on E! this summer.
