Kerry Katona on her 'purpose' for appearing on Reality TV
She joined Fleur East on the last episode of her podcast
Last updated 6th Oct 2020
Kerry Katona is known for starring in a number of Reality TV shows, such as I'm a Celebrity, Dancing On Ice, Celebrity Big Brother and even her own Reality TV shows, after starting out in the 90s girl group, Atomic Kitten.
Now, Kerry, who is currently training to be a life coach, has opened up in the last episode of the current series of The Reality of Reality TV with Fleur East, about her mental health, struggles with drug use and how her kids inspired her to get clean.
WARNING: This episode contains references to suicide, drug use, issues surrounding mental health and nudity and strong language.
Over the years, Kerry's private life has been made very public with several marriages and divorces and struggles with addiction, so touching on some of the worst times of her life, Kerry admitted she shouldn't really be here. However, the singer explained that being so open on the TV shows she's appeared on has helped others.
Recounting a time a lady came up to her in a supermarket, Kerry explained how the lady's daughter had been going through addiction and divorce, she was going to lose her kids, then they watched her show, and it 'saved' her.
"That makes me think, 'that's my purpose'," Kerry continued, "If my story and my down days and my darkness that's been shown on national TV helps others overcome it, then that is what I'm here to do."
In this candid interview with Fleur East, Kerry explains how her longest relationship has been with the press, after she grew up in foster homes.
"I actually did an interview the other day, and one of the things I realised, is my longest relationship I've had has been with the press. It's the one consistency I've had in my life even from my own mother, I wouldn't know anything different really, it's been that long."
