Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she plans to leave the X-Men franchise after upcoming movie ‘Apocalypse’.

The Oscar-winning actress, who plays shape-shifting mutant ‘Mystique’, has been part of the movie franchise since 2011.

However speaking to MTV News on the red carpet of her new movie ‘Serena’, she confirmed that she will leave the popular film series.

Apocalypse is my last one, actually,” she said with no further elaboration.

Lawrence began her role as a younger Mystique in ‘X-Men: First Class’, reprising her role in last year’s ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’.

The character was previously played by Rebecca Romjin in the first three X-Men films, 'X-Men', 'X2' and 'X-Men: The Last Stand'.

Meanwhile, former Skins actor Nicholas Hoult, who played ‘The Beast’ in the latest two X-Men movies, has also hinted that he may step away from the role after ‘Apocalypse’.

He revealed to E! Online that he wasn’t signed up for any more X-Men films, although he didn’t rule out appearing in the franchise again.

'X-Men: Apocalypse', directed by Bryan Singer, will hit cinemas on 19th May 2016.
