Reality star Jake Quickenden thought he was 'dying' when panic attack forced him off stage

Jake Quickenden thought he was dying as a panic attack forced him off stage. The X Factor star and Dancing On Ice winner is currently starring in a touring production of the musical 'Hair'.

The singer suffered a panic attack in the Saturday matinee performance of the musical. He then posted an explanation on his Instagram, following his absence from the Saturday evening show.

The 30-year-old apologised to fans who missed him perform, as he was unable to appear in that night's production due to his bad health.

Jake said, 'Just a little explanation, as some of you know been suffering really bad anxiety over the past few days and on sat afternoon in my matinee show I had a panic attack' sic.

The singer continued saying, 'I've never had one and I honestly didn't know what was happening I felt like I was dying' sic.

The 2018 Dancing On Ice winner added, 'It all got abit much and my voice being sore and being tired and then the anxiety it got the better of me, I couldn't perform on the Saturday night show and I really felt upset that I let it get the better of me, which will hopefully never happen again' sic.

He explained to his fans, 'I am always in a chirpy mood and pride myself on being mentally strong, but honestly I now realise that this can happen to anyone and it's not weakness at all' sic.

Jake concluded his apology and explanation to his Instagram followers saying, 'It takes a strong person to accept it and move on and deal with it, so just wanted to say that it doesn't matter who you are or what your personality is like it can effect anyone! And if this helps one person then I'm glad it happened to me and we can beat this s--t together!! Much love ❤️' sic.

People were praising the previous X Factor contestant for being so open about his mental health with both stars and fans sending him encouraging messages of support.

One fan wrote 'Sending love to you Jake, thank you for sharing anxiety is awful and more common than people think 💕' sic. Another follower replied, 'Sending Love and strength 🌈🌈😘❤️' sic.
