Well they say there's no such thing as bad publicity and Pepsi's latest advert, which features reality star Kendall Jenner, certainly has everyone talking!

In the ad, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star can be seen leaving a photo shoot into a protest in the street. As Kendall rips off her blonde wig, she walks through the crowd before picking up a can of Pepsi.

When the march reaches a barrier of police officers, Kendall approaches the line and hands the officer the can of soft drink, when he accepts the protest turns into celebration.

Twitter users were quick to ridicule the advert:

However it wasn't all humour as some were left really angry to see causes they care about being treated like they were so easy to solve...

Pepsi have now responded to the backlash by releasing the following statement:

“This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.”

For those of you who don't know who Kendall Jenner is, the 21-year-old is the half sister of reality favourites Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian.

Since appearing on E! reality show Keeping Up With Kardashians from a small age, Kendall has gone on to walk catwalks for high fashion labels at New York, Paris and Milan fashion shows.

Worth an estimated $36.6 million, she's also one of the most followed celebrities on Instagram with a massive 77.8 millions followers.

Maybe Pepsi should have kept it simple and followed Coca-Cola's lead. Their picture of Selena Gomez has had 6.6m likes and was the most liked picture on Instagram.
