Injured Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl performs gig on Iron Throne
He broke his leg on stage last month
Dave Grohl made his Foo Fighters live return on Saturday night with a glorious gig at RFK Stadium in Washington.
Despite still being in a plaster cast after breaking his leg on stage in Sweden last month, rock god Dave took centre stage performing in a Game of Thrones style seat.
The custom throne came complete with an illuminated band logo, a circle of flashing lights and a clutch of guitar necks!
To enormous cheers, Dave told the 45,000 strong crowd that he came up with the ambitious design while heavily dosed up on the narcotic pain reliever Oxycotin in hospital.
During a 10minute interlude where Dave told the story of his broken leg, he held up a picture of his Iron Trone-esque drawing and joked: “I was as high as a kite when I drew that.”
Despite the fact the end result was devoid of “lazers and s***”, the throne was nothing short of a triumph.
Met with rave reviews from critics and fans alike, Foo Fighters played a typically epic 24 song set that included two Queen covers – ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and ‘Under Pressure’ – plus snippets of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ and AC/DC’s ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’.
The Sonic Highways World Tour continues at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, New Jersey tonight.
Due to Dave’s injury, Foo Fighters were forced to axe seven European shows including London Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium and Glastonbury.
