2015 has been a crazy year for One Direction once again. We take a look back at the biggest highs and lows of the year.

Being the world's biggest boyband on the planet brings plenty of highs to life!

Sold out world tour

2015 saw Harry, Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn (for half the year) travel the world, taking their 'On The Road Again' tour to every continent. Not only was there screaming fans everywhere, the tour sold out and received some great reviews.

They made history

Not only did One Direction see major success with their album ‘Four’ in the UK, the album also helped the boys make history in the US charts. When the album reached number 1 on the ‘Billboard 200 Chart’, this cemented their names into the history books as the only ever group to get their first four albums at number 1.

Number one on the under 30 Rich List

They held onto their top-spot in the under 30's rich list this year, when it emerged between them they have a massive £82.2 million fortune!

X-Factor send off

After they announced a hiatus to happen in the New Year, the 1D boys went back to where it all began for the ultimate send off from friend and former mentor Simon Cowell.

After almost taking over the X-Factor final , the boys were shown an emotional video from celebrity fans, before treating us to their new single , 'History' – rather fitting don’t you think?

Despite being the nations favourite boyband, even the One Direction boys aren’t completely perfect and experienced some low points in 2015.

Zayn's exit

Potentially the biggest shock of the year came in March when it emerged fan favourite Zayn Malik was to quit the band to pursue a solo career.

Zayn announced his departure with a heart-felt statement to his fans:My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band.”

It was all too much for poor Harry Styles though, he even broke down and cried during a performance in Jakarta.

We miss you Zayn!

Louis’ spat with Naughty Boy

After a photo of former band member Zayn and Naughty Boy emerged, Mr Tomlinson couldn’t help himself, tweeting a controversial response seemingly aimed at the music producer.

The twitter ‘spat’ between the pair didn’t end there, with Zayn getting involved, One Directions fans all over the world began to realise the relationship between Zayn and the remaining 1D boys was totally over. - Sob!

Liam cancels a show

Back in October, on the UK and Ireland leg of their world tour, the One Direction boys were forced to cancel a gig in Belfast, just a few moments before they were due to start.

Reports suggest Liam had a ‘meltdown’ backstage prior to the show, due to the stresses of living the showbiz life.

The boys tweeted their apologies to fans on behalf of Liam, including this one from Harry Styles.

Break-ups

The 1D boys’ love lives hit an all-time low in 2015, with all five members splitting from their respective others.

In March, Louis split from long-term girlfriend, Elenor Calder. June saw Niall Horan break off his three-month romance with Melissa Whitelaw.

Liam and his girlfriend of three years, Sophia Smith also went their separate ways in October and poor Harry was dumped by his model girlfriend Nadine Leopold.

Ex-member Zayn was involved in one of the year’s biggest break-up stories when he called off his engagement to Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards.

Not a good year for One Direction relationships!

The boy's call a hiatus

The news the whole world did not want to hear.

In August the band announced they would be taking a break for at least a year, stating the ‘time was right’.

We hope they aren’t' away for too long. - We miss them already!
