Freya Ridings reveals she got starstruck singing for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge
She told us all about it at Hits Live!
Freya Ridings may be pretty new to the whole world of showbiz after releasing her debut album 'Freya Ridings' earlier this year, but she's already performed for some seriously big names - including actual Royalty.
Freya, who performed at Hits Live Liverpool on Friday 15th Nov, told Jordan Lee how she's performed at a charity event which just so happened to have the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in attendance.
After Jordan asked what who she's been most starstruck by during her career so far, Freya explained, "There have been so many, genuinely. I think Prince William and Catherine.
"I played at a charity event and they were so gracious and so humble, just the loveliest family. I was like, 'This is just crazy, this is literally like a wild dream just to even be in their presence'."
Things got a little deep when Jordan asked what's it like for Freya revisiting her heartbreak on stage through her songs, and she said, "It's one of the strangest feelings, because I think a part of you always remembers the day that you wrote it and what you felt when you were writing it, but then it's another world where real people have taken a song that I wrote really heartbroken in my front room into their own lives.
"There's this euphoric joy of overcoming that pain together and healing. It's the most beautiful feeling in the whole world. I think because I was so uncool at school and spent a lot of time on my own, for me to have a thing that I did in isolation be the thing connecting me with so many really amazing people is the best thing about this job."
And what about the audience singing back to her? "Genuinely, it actually makes me emotional, every single night, especially 'Lost Without You', and now that the album's out as well it's like I can hear you it's the feeling of not being alone, it's the best feeling in the world."
Freya has been a busy bee this year, releasing her debut album 'Freya Ridings' in July 2019. The record, which peaked at Number 3 in the UK, spawned singles 'Castles', 'Lost Without You' and 'You Mean the World to Me'.
