Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan has finally opened up about the reason she left the popular ITV daytime show last year, revealing that she was subjected to death threats in the aftermath of ‘bullying’ accusations.

After an on-air row with Kim Woodburn, who she famously fell out with they took part in Celebrity Big Brother together, viewers started a petition to get Coleen sacked. She eventually stepped down from the show and axed her planned solo tour.

“Following the constant online bullying, trolling and misrepresentation of her words and reactions, it is with sad regret that Coleen is taking an immediate hiatus from all her current commitments including Loose Women and postponing her Never Too late solo concert tour,” a spokesperson for Coleen said at the time.

Now Coleen has opened up about the abuse she received, revealing that she was bombarded with death threats from trolls who wished cancer upon her.

"Everything spiralled. I'd ploughed on with work and hadn't faced up to my divorce. But when the death threats happened it was a catalyst and it all hit me. I needed to get a grip on my life,” she told the Mirror’s Notebook magazine.

She added: “You have to be made of steel to not be affected by hurtful comments. But when people were saying things like: 'I hope you die of cancer like your sister', it was time to stop."

Coleen, who lost her sister Bernie to breast cancer in 2013, took a three-month hiatus from the show but was greeted with a standing ovation when she returned to the panel in December.

She was visibly overcome with emotion at the support and told her fellow panellists: "It was very nice, it nearly made me cry! It's like coming home… It's been great."
