Christopher Biggins was set to appear on This Morning to discuss his controversial removal from the Celebrity Big Brother house, but the star cancelled last minute leaving show host Ruth Langford with an official statement.

Earlier in the morning, This Morning tweeted that Biggins would no longer appear on the show and teased a ‘special message’ from the former housemate.

After receiving Biggins’ statement from Big Brother’s Bit On The Side host, Rylan Clark-Neal, Ruth read out his message. It said "Once again I wanted to say how very sorry I am at what happened. For now I'm taking some time out to be with loved ones."

Earlier in the week, the 67-year-old took to Twitter to thank fans for their support following his removal.

The former I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here winner was removed from the CBB house after he made “comments capable of causing great offence to housemates and the viewing public” making reference to both AIDS and Nazi’s in separate situations.

Big Brother bosses have since come under fire from viewers of the show who believe Biggins’ punishment was ‘unfair’ compared to the punishments other housemates have received for their outrageous behaviour.

Comedian Ricky Gervais also showed his support for Biggins following his removal.

The controversial show continues to air each night with Lewis Bloor, Saira Khan and Heavy D joining eternally nominated Bear to face the public vote for Tuesday's live eviction show.
