Since Love Island's Chris Hughes started dating Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson in January 2019, the pair have been inseparable, with Jesy even sparking engagement rumours recently.

Despite a number of people being sceptical about the pair's romance, ever since Jesy's anti-bullying documentary Odd One Out aired on the BBC last month, many have fallen in love with the way Chris treats his girl, totally shipping their romance.

In the documentary, Jesy revealed how she tried to take her own life after suffering horrendous online abuse when Little Mix were on The X Factor, leaving viewers in tears throughout.

Now, speaking in an interview with Mail Online, Chris has opened up about how he has to 'bite his tongue' when Jesy receives abuse from online trolls.

Speaking to the publication, Chris said, "I struggle with it. Even with myself, when I initially came out of Love Island, I was kind of unaware of the whole social media thing so I used to snap back a lot and I used to fight back to everything. But I learnt that it isn’t the way forward."

"When it’s her, I get really protective and I struggle to bite my tongue. I have bitten back at a few people, when people say negative comments on my own stuff, I’ll say something back and block them. I like to have my say because I’m one of them people who fight for stuff."

Chris, who recently opened up about his infertility fears, then added, "But I am very protective, because It’s not nice. Other people judge people who they don’t know, but I know who she is. Honestly you couldn’t meet anyone nicer, you’d walk away thinking 'she’s the nicest girl I’ve ever met!'' She’s got a heart of gold and she wouldn’t say boo to a goose."

During Jesy's Odd One Out documentary, fans were left gushing about the pair's relationship when Chris revealed he often walks to the fridge just to look at a photo of Jesy without make-up on.
