Two arrested after stolen motor vehicle spotted in Goole

Two men have been arrested after officers from our Roads Policing Unit spotted a suspected stolen vehicle travelling on High Street, Airmyn near Goole at around 3.40pm yesterday.

When requested by officers, the vehicle failed to stop, and a short pursuit ensued before the vehicle is reported to have been involved in a collision with two vehicles on Rawcliffe Road in Goole. A 64-year-old woman sustained minor injuries as a result.

The vehicle reportedly came to a stop in the middle of the road before the driver and three passengers are believed to have abandoned the car attempting to evade officers by fleeing the area on foot.

Officers began area searches leading to two suspects being located and arrested in a field nearby.

A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, using a motor vehicle in a public place without third party insurance.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. Both men remain in police custody whilst investigations continue.
