Speed restrictions on A63 in East Yorkshire could be lifted this week
A temporary speed limit was put in place last year
A temporary speed limit on the A63, between South Cave and North Ferriby, could be lifted as early as tomorrow (3 April).
National Highways says the 40mph restriction, that has been in place since July 2024, could soon be lifted.
It is as work to renew safety barriers is due to also be completed at the end of the week.
Crews were aiming to complete the work and be off site by Friday 9 May.
In a statement, National Highways said: "We can confirm the safety barrier renewal is due to be completed by the end of this week.
"Discussions are ongoing ahead of the removal of the speed restriction but plans are to remove it from Thursday night (as it stands).
"It hasn’t yet been decided whether this would be both carriageways at once or westbound this week and eastbound next.
"The lighting renewal work is ongoing and we are progressing with the electrical work.
"Testing of these will take place in the coming weeks.
"This work, along with other maintenance activities, will take place during any existing or planned closures up until Friday 9 May.
"If all goes to plan, this is the date for the absolute completion and be clear of the site."
A number of overnight closures have been planned, external on the eastbound carriageway, on 7 and 21 April and 5 May.
Further overnight closures have also been planned for the westbound carriageway on 28 April.
