Public urged to stay away as police respond to incident in Beverley

A road has been closed in Beverley as police respond to an incident in the town centre.

Access to Lairgate has been withdrawn, with the public urged to avoid the area between the Cross Keys pub and Newbegin.

Police tape has been put up, with officers at the scene.

In a post on social media this morning, Humberside Police said: "A road closure is currently in place on Lairgate in Beverley between the Cross Keys pub and Newbegin.

"Members of the public are advised to avoid the area at this time."
