A man is in life-threatening condition in hospital after reportedly being punched in a bar in Bridlington.

Emergency services were called to Prince Street around 1.30 am on Sunday (23/02) after a 22-year-old was found unconscious.

It's believed he was punched by another man, who was then removed from the premises by security.

His injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

A 31-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicole Elliott said "We are in the early stages of our investigation, but I can confirm that following enquiries so far, a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the assault. He remains in our custody whilst enquiries continue, and we look to establish the full circumstances around the incident."

“Those within the area can expect to see an increased number of officers and I would ask anyone with concerns to please speak to them.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, including CCTV or mobile footage from leading up to and following the incident, is urged to call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 52 of 23 February.”
