Humberside police are taking part in the national Operation Forbearance, highlighting the devastating impact of reckless and distracted driving.

32 lives have been lost on East Yorkshire roads in the last year, with many more suffering life-changing injuries and in the last month alone, two motorists have lost their lives riding high powered motorcyclists.

Throughout April 2025, the force took significant steps to improve road safety by enforcing laws against the Fatal 4: speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt violations, and drink/drug driving.

Roads Policing Inspector John Rickells from our Roads Policing Unit said:"Every fatal collision we attend is a tragedy that didn’t need to happen. Speeding, distraction, impairment, it only takes one second to change lives forever. Our work through enforcement and education is about making sure people make safe choices, every time they get behind the wheel."
