Hull train drivers stage latest walkout

It's over the sacking of a colleague

Drivers at Hull Trains will stage a fresh strike on Friday in a long-running dispute over the sacking of a colleague.

Aslef said the walkout by its members will hit services on the East Coast mainline between London and the North.

Mick Whelan, general secretary of Aslef, said:

"Hull Trains sacked a driver - without proper due process - for doing nothing wrong. He has a completely clean safety record.

"He raised fears of fatigues at a safety meeting, but when the company downloaded the black box it discovered that the driver had driven perfectly and correctly throughout his journeys."

Friday's walkout will be the 75th in the dispute which started in January.

Hull Trains have always denied the union's claims.
