A search operation has been launched to find a man from Hull who went missing in northern Italy.

Matthew Hall, aged 33, had been staying in the Chiavenna area of Italy, in the province of Lombardy when he went missing.

Local reports have found that he was last seen at 1:20pm last Wednesday (July 9th), after he sent a picture of himself trekking.

The last confirmed sighting of Matthew came after he uploaded a photo of the metal cross at Alpe Daloo just about the town.

Matthew has not contacted his family or friends since he sent the picture of himself earlier this week.

He had been due to return to the UK on Sunday (July 13th), with his flight from Milan to Manchester having been over the weekend.

A missing person's appeal has been launched both in the UK and Italy, and those who may have seen him are being urged to get in touch with either Italian or British authorities.
