'Explosive materials' found at property in Beverley

Several roads are closed in Beverley after "suspcted explosive materials" were found in a property.

Police have put a cordon in place in the area and residents have been evacuated.

Officers are staying in the area while they make it safe.

In a statement, Humberside Police said: "Road closures are currently in place on Watts Road, Beverley following reports of suspected explosive materials being found in a property today.

"A precautionary 100m cordon is in place, residents have been evacuated to a safe place and officers remain in attendance whilst an assessment is carried out.

"Police are asking that people avoid the area until officers have deemed it safe."
