Cup of courage nominations open in honour of Amy Johnson
Nominations are now open
Nominations are being invited for a prize that has been named after aviation pioneer Amy Johnson.
The Cup for Courage will aim to award to someone under the age of 18 who is born in Hull and has committed a "signal act of bravery" in the city in the previous year.
Hull-born Miss Johnson became the first woman pilot to fly solo between Britain and Australia in 1930.
The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Cheryl Payne, said: "It can be presented to someone who has done something to help someone, who was in a dangerous position or even helped an animal.
"It is amazing to be able to award this in Amy's honour, what she did was dangerous and this is a chance to remember her."
The winner will have their photograph taken with the original Cup, which is kept at The Guildhall and receive a prize.
