We’re hearing how a single elected mayor could help tackle the imbalance in investment facing Northern areas such as East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

There's just a week to go now until we go to the polls - to elect our first ever Mayor here.

The six candidates in the running to be Mayor of the Hull & East Yorkshire Combined Authority are as follows:

Reform UK: Luke Campbell

Yorkshire Party : Rowan Halstead

Conservative Party : Anne Handley

Green Party: Kerry Harrison

Labour Party : Margaret Pinder

Liberal Democrats : Mike Ross

Andy Burnham has been the Mayor of Greater Manchester since 2017 - and visited Hull yesterday to promote the role of a Mayor

Andy said:

"Hull has been at the end of the line and not got the attention it deserves under all governments, to be honest.

"But it makes the case for a mayor. You need a voice that can make that change.

"You devolve more power so that you can link transport to new homes, bringing in investors to the city region."
