Seashells are being swapped for jingle bells just for today...as Christmas comes early to Bridlington!

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is running ‘Bridmas Day’ to help promote the area during the summer holidays.

Winter themed events are taking over venues and services including Bridlington Spa, Sewerby Hall and Gardens.

The town’s land trains are belting out Christmas classics all day to get people in the mood.

Other events include a screening of Elf, at the Spa Theatre. Christmas treats are being served in the Clocktower Cafe - and there are yuletide touches inside the hall itself.

Councillor Barbara Jefferson, the council’s cabinet member for heritage and coastal, said:

“It’s certainly unusual, bringing Christmas to the seaside in the height of summer, but we really hope people will join in the festive fun. "The aim of this event is to show that Bridlington isn't just a summer destination - it's a fantastic place to come at Christmas time too."
