Armed Police have been called to a street in Cleethorpes after receiving a report of gunshots being heard.

Armed response and uniformed officers were deployed to Barcroft Street between 8.30pm and 9pm, last night, after being alerted by a member of the public.

Police say they have carried out a thorough search of the area.

Detective Superintendent Nicola Burnett said: “Whilst incidents of this nature thankfully remain rare in our area, I understand the concern and shock this will have caused to the local community.

“We are exploring a number of avenues of investigation to understand exactly what has happened and I can confirm at this time, nobody is thought to have sustained any injuries.

“We are in the very early stages of our investigation; however, I would like to reassure communities that we believe this to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other.

“Locals to the area can expect to see a police presence over the coming days whilst officers carry out further enquiries and speak to members in the community. We would encourage anybody who has any concerns to please come and speak to us.

“If anybody has any information that may assist our investigations, or if you have any dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of the area around the time of the incident, please contact us our non-emergency number 101 number, quoting log 491 of 25 March.

“If you would prefer to report information anonymously, you can do so by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
