A ten-year-old boy who found a zombie knife on his way to school in Scunthorpe says without learning about dangers in school, he wouldn't have known what to do.

Kade Hearn was taught about the risks of knives by author Christina Gabbitas which resulted in him stopping his sister from touching the weapon and getting hurt.

Kade, said:

“It was really sunny so the knife was shining in my eyes, I found it behind an electric box. I rang my mum and told her I wanted it to be gone.”

His mum Cynthia was so proud and grateful for the education Kade received on the issue, said said:

“I cant advocate for this enough, children need education. Unfortunately knife crime and county lines is an issue. Without that education, we cant expect them to have the knowledge to know what to do if they come across these things.”

From tomorrow, Zombie-style knives and machetes will be banned in England and Wales.

Kade and his mum are welcoming the new law, Kade said:

“Good, im, glad they’re going to be banned because no one will be able to do anything dangerous with them.”

Cynthia added:

“There is no place for them in our society, from a mothers points of view as well I don’t want my son or daughter to come to harm from one of these so I don’t think that its important that the government is acting on it.”
