Two people arrested and axe recovered in Newark
Two suspects remain in custody for questioning
Police have made two arrests and recovered an axe in Newark following a disturbance in a residential street.
Officers were called out to reports a woman was threatening a man with an axe during an argument in Tithe Barn Court, Newark, at around 6.45pm yesterday (Monday 31 March).
No one was injured.
Officers arrested a man aged 43 and a woman, aged 37, on suspicion of affray.
Officers also recovered an axe.
Two suspects remain in custody for questioning.
Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“There is no excuse for taking a weapon into a public space and we will always take swift action to deal with incidents like this.
“Officers made two arrests at the scene and are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
“Inquiries are continuing and I would urge anyone with information, or dash-cam footage of the disturbance, to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 687 of 31 March 2025.”
