Two further arrests made following shooting incident in Leicester

Two further arrests have been made following a shooting in Leicester last year.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on Thursday (25th July) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and a 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday (26th July), also on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Both men, of Leicester, have since been released on bail pending ongoing investigations.

Police had been called to Evington Road at 11.20pm on Wednesday 22nd November following a report that two men had been shot as they walked along the road close to the junction with Chepstow Road.

Both men were taken to hospital following the incident and they were later discharged.

Four other men have previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident. A further six men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. The men have all been released on bail while enquiries continue and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Detective Inspector Hazel Sandall, from the forces’s Complex Investigation Team, said:

“It is now eight months since this incident happened but detailed enquiries continue to be carried out and our investigation very much remains ongoing. This has led to a total of 12 arrests being made.

“We do continue to appeal for help from the public as part of our enquiries. Please know that it is not too late to come forward to us with any information you may have or anything you may have heard since the incident.”
