Part of the A52 in Nottingham was closed on Sunday (22 June) following a serious collision.
Emergency services were called to the scene - between the A6464 (Wollaton) and the A6514 (Nottingham) - at 4.22am after the crash involving two cars and three electric bikes.
All three bike riders were taken to hospital suffering from injuries which are not currently believed to be life threatening.
National Highways said the road is likely to remain closed for some time, as collision investigation work continues.
Two men, aged 24 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Superintendent Chris Sullivan, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was a very serious incident and specialist collision investigators are working hard to understand exactly what happened.
“The collision has occurred on a major route into the city and close to the Queen’s Medical Centre so will unfortunately cause disruption to motorists during today.
“We are currently expecting the A52 to remain closed between the Priory Roundabout and Queen’s Medical Centre Roundabout until at least 3pm.
“I’d like to thank motorists for their patience while these vital investigations take place.
“Our inquiries are at a very early stage and we want to hear from anyone with any information which could assist.
“We’d particularly urge anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch without delay.”
