Police are stepping up patrols in parts of Nottingham after around ten people were shot at with a BB gun from a passing vehicle.

Inquiries are being carried into incidents reported in the Bestwood and Sherwood areas of Nottingham between 5.40pm and 7.25pm yesterday.

Two victims were hit to their leg and hand during an incident in Beckhampton Road, Bestwood, at 5.40pm.

Another report was received, shortly after 6pm, that a pedestrian was at the junction of Beckhampton Road and Bestwood Drive when he was hit in the face by a pellet.

Just after 7.20pm, four people were reportedly shot at by a BB gun from a moving vehicle in Winchester Street.

No serious injuries were reported following the incidents which remain under investigation.

Patrols have been increased in the areas while inquiries continue, including checking CCTV and doorbell camera footage.

It’s currently believed a dark-coloured car may have been involved in the incidents.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are treating these incidents extremely seriously and are doing everything we can to trace those involved.

“Patrols have been increased in these areas while we continue with our lines of inquiry.

"I’d urge anyone who has any information which could assist us with our investigation to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 553 of 16 October, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
