Pensioner dies following collision with council road sweeper in Leicester

An investigation is underway after a pedestrian died following a collision with a council road sweeping vehicle in Holy Bones, Leicester.
Police were called to the scene by the East Midlands Ambulance Service just before 2.15pm yesterday (Monday 13 October).
The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital but died a few hours later.
Detectives in the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
As part of their enquiries, they are looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information that could assist.
A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and is currently in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Mike Steer said: “We are working to understand exactly how the collision occurred following the sad news that the man died in hospital last night.
“The vehicle involved was a Leicester City Council road sweeper. We are in contact with colleagues in the council and they are assisting us with our investigation.
