Police have charged a fifth person after a street fight in Nottingham earlier this month.
Several people were fighting with weapons like metal poles and glass bottles on Alfreton Road at around 11:55pm on 2 July. Two men were injured - one sustained a potentially life-altering head injury, whilst the other had his bag stolen.
Seven people were arrested when officers attended the scene, with an eighth person being identified this week and arrested.
Amin Arfali, 43, has since been charged with violent disorder and robbery.
Arfali, of Princes Road, Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, attended Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (24 July).
He has been remanded into custody ahead of his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 21 August.
Detective Sergeant Kate Hyde, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Our team of detectives have been carrying out extensive inquiries since this happened and have now charged another suspect.
“As we announce this fifth charge today, our best-wishes remain with the injured man who is still recovering in hospital.
“Violent disorder in our communities will never be tolerated by this police force, while we will always do everything in our powers to put suspects before the courts.
“We hope the actions our policing teams have taken so far following this incident provide the public with some reassurance.”
Detectives previously charged four other suspects with a variety of offences, following the disorder on 2 July.
Bendr Omer, 23, of Meadow Lane, Sneinton, was charged with attempted murder and violent disorder.
Farman Ali, 29, of Meadow Lane, Sneinton, was charged with grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.
Aso Mohammad, 34, of Noel Street, Hyson Green, was charged with grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.
Amine Mohamad, 43, of no fixed address, was charged with violent disorder.
Omer, Ali and Mohammad were all remanded into custody, while Mohamad was bailed with conditions. They will all next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 1 August.
Three other suspects, including a 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, have also been bailed with strict conditions.
