Nottingham protest over NHS banning puberty blockers
Nottingham Against Transphobia have called the demonstration.
A protest is taking place in Nottingham city centre today against the NHS announcing the banning of puberty blockers.
NHS England says it's not clear they're safe or effective - but those who've started already will still get access.
The Government welcomed NHS England's plans calling it a "landmark decision", which it said was "in the best interests of children".
Puberty blockers limit the physical changes in a child's body when puberty begins, such as facial hair.
Nottingham Against Transphobia have called the demonstration today against the move.
Anna Preston from Nottingham Against Transphobia, said: "When appropriate medical, lifesaving care is taken away from transgender children, we really don't hear that much from the general public in terms of this is wrong and shouldn't happen.
The protest begins at 1:30pm at the Brian Clough Statue.
