Murder investigation launched after man pronounced dead in Newark
Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward
Police in Nottinghamshire have launched a murder investigation, after a man was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon (16 June).
Emergency services were called to Lombard Street, Newark, after 5pm yesterday, following a reported medical emergency concerning a man behind the wheel of a car.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers have since confirmed the incident is being treated as a murder investigation, and detectives are urging witnesses to come forward with any information they may have.
Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time, and they will be supported by our specially trained officers.
“A team of detectives is now working to understand exactly what happened in the time before and during this incident.
“To this end they want to hear from anyone who saw or heard any part of what happened."
